Alfa’s New Look

Zagato has just unveiled a reimagined version of the iconic Alfa Romeo 8C at the prestigious Villa d’Este car show, crafting a bespoke and spectacular body for this one-of-a-kind model. This piece of stunning craftsmanship is built on the original Alfa 8C platform, which famously features a Ferrari-Maserati V8 powertrain. Limited to a single creation, this exceptional automobile is designed for a private Italian collector, instantly making it a highly coveted treasure.
Design Legacy

There’s been a long-standing tradition among Italian automakers to collaborate with distinguished design houses for specialized projects. For the Alfa Romeo 8C, however, the stunning design was the handiwork of Wolfgang Egger and Daniele Gaglione from Alfa’s very own design team. This did not deter Zagato from diving into the creative challenge, crafting a unique version—the 8C DoppiaCoda Zagato—15 years after the original’s limited production run ended.
A New Body, Same Heart
This new edition retains the unmodified underpinnings of the 8C Competizione’s carbon fiber structure but showcases a new body that’s both bold and elegant, embodying Zagato’s flair for design innovation. True to its name, “Doppia Coda” (Italian for “Double Tail”), this model sports a distinctive rear end blending a Kamm-tail with a rounded design, resulting in a visually striking profile with both aesthetics and aerodynamics in mind.
V8 Thrill
Under the hood lies the ferocious 4.7-liter V8, a Ferrari-engineered and Maserati-sourced powerhouse known for its roaring output in the original model. With 444 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, it propels the 8C from 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds, delivering a drive that’s nothing short of exhilarating. This model keeps the essence of the original with its heart-thumping performance.
Driving Experience
Driving the 8C DoppiaCoda is nothing short of spectacular. It retains the visceral performance enthusiasts expect from an Alfa while offering a refreshed visual experience that stands out from the crowd. In comparison to sleek grand tourers or modern hypercars, this is a blend of classic charm with contemporary flair, providing a raw yet refined driving experience. It’s a car that excites all the senses, offering the iconic throaty exhaust note and the immediate power response expected from an Italian masterpiece.
After its showcase at the Villa d’Este, this one-off 8C will head to its new home. The new owner will possess not just a car, but a piece of automotive artistry that combines luxury, history, and pure engineering prowess.
