The Opel Mokka GSE Rally brings a fresh breeze to the electric SUV world. Part of Opel’s updated GSE performance sub-brand, this rally-ready variant is crafted to comply with the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations. Opel’s taking the electric game to the dirt tracks with this sporty little SUV. Unlike your average Mokka cruising down Main Street, the GSE Rally boasts a special livery decked out in black, gray, and yellow graphics, setting it apart from the pack.

Design and Specs

Right off the bat, the rally-spec Mokka stands out with its sporty add-ons. It features modified bumpers for a meaner look, a roof scoop, and shiny new wheels. These aren’t just for show; the modifications are crucial for enhancing its off-road prowess. Under the hood, it packs a punch with a 278 horsepower electric motor producing 207 kW and 255 lb-ft of torque. This power is funneled through a multi-plate limited-slip differential and a racing transmission, strictly channeling it to the front wheels.

Battery and Build

It draws power from a 54 kWh battery, similar to what’s in the Mokka Electric, but in this case, further wrapped with special encasings and an underride guard to withstand rough rally conditions. Suspension-wise, Bilstein has fitted reinforced McPherson struts up front and matched them with custom springs and dampers at the rear, solidifying its stance on rugged terrain where ABS, ESP, and traction control are absent, letting drivers really push it to the limits.

The Feel

Taking the Mokka GSE Rally out for a spin feels like unleashing a battle-ready machine. It’s nimble, yet ferocious when tackled on aggressive courses. It brings back the raw, unfiltered joy of rally driving since systems like traction control are stripped – pure guts and glory. When comparing it to traditional internal combustion engine rally cars, this one’s both greener and significantly quieter, but trust, it doesn’t skimp on power.

The Good Stuff Inside

Inside, it drops the comfort for competition, featuring a stripped-down cabin with FIA-certified roll cages and two bucket seats utilizing six-point harnesses for driver safety. Should anything go south, there’s a sophisticated crash response system that’ll cut the power immediately. Additionally, an electric non-conductive fire extinguisher stands by—a nod to safety and preparedness.

The Opel Mokka GSE Rally will be made available to private teams and buyers for the 2026 season, and before hitting the broader track, a prototype is set for its public appearance at the ELE Rally in Eindhoven come May 2025, mingling with Corsa Rally Electric hatchbacks as part of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup.
