When thinking about law enforcement vehicles in the United States, the Ford Explorer often comes to mind as the go-to SUV for many agencies. However, Jeep aims to change that narrative with their latest offering, the Wagoneer Command Operations Vehicle (COV). This specially designed SUV is built upon the regular Wagoneer platform but is meticulously upgraded to fulfill the rigorous demands of government operations both in the United States and Canada.

Features

The Wagoneer COV is available in both short and long-wheelbase versions, providing versatility to cater to various agency needs. Designed not just for law enforcement but also for VIP transport, this vehicle comes stacked with features that put it in a league of its own. Jeep has integrated an advanced lighting and electrical package, including blue and red flashing lights, strategically positioned behind the grille, below the sun visors, along the sides, and in the rear window. A siren is also housed behind the grille, making this ride both visible and audible from a distance.

Powering this beast is Jeep’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder Hurricane engine. It kicks out a healthy 420 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 6.3 seconds. Despite its robust performance, the Wagoneer COV maintains a smooth ride thanks to the Quadra-Lift air suspension system, designed to handle a range of terrains with ease. Safety features borrowed from the regular Wagoneer include a 10-inch head-up display with night vision, active lane management, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Additionally, each vehicle includes three years of Jeep Connect services and a decade of access to the Safety and Security Package, featuring a Stolen Vehicle Assistance system.

Ryan Austin of Stellantis, responsible for the law enforcement program, anticipates broad adoption due to its seamless integration of security and luxury. While pricing details remain confidential to interested agencies, orders are already being processed across Jeep dealerships nationwide.
