Recall Alert

Ford has issued a recall for 273,789 vehicles in the U.S., involving multiple models of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. The recall focuses on a potential brake fluid leak that could jeopardize safety.
Details

Vehicles Involved

The recall affects 223,315 Ford Expedition SUVs and 50,474 Lincoln Navigators. These vehicles were manufactured between April 15, 2021, and November 20, 2024. Model years 2022 through 2024 are included.
Problem
The front brake lines may rub against the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. During vehicle assembly, the brake lines might be bent improperly, potentially leading to a brake fluid leak. This defect could result in extended brake pedal travel and reduced braking power, raising the risk of accidents. Thankfully, Ford has not reported any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Action Steps
Starting May 26, Ford will notify affected vehicle owners via mail. Dealers will check the brake line clearances and replace parts if necessary. Ford has acknowledged at least 45 warranty claims and other related reports concerning this problem.
Driving Experience
Both the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator are sizable SUVs designed for comfort and road presence. Knowing there’s a potential brake issue can overshadow their otherwise commendable driving qualities. However, once the fix is in place, these vehicles can get back to what they do best—providing a smooth and commanding ride.
Comparison
In terms of driving experience, the Expedition and Navigator often compete with SUVs like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade. While their road handling is generally praised, this brake concern is a standout flaw. Once resolved, these SUVs will again be solid contenders for anyone needing a reliable and spacious vehicle.
