Tariff Trouble

The current U.S. tariff landscape poses significant challenges. Imported from South Korea, models like the Envista and Encore GX face a 27.5% tariff, while the Envision gets hit even harder with a total of 47.5% due to additional tariffs aimed at addressing unrelated international issues. This scenario raises uncertainties about vehicle pricing and availability, especially with Buick’s current 53-day inventory deadline. If tariffs persist, American consumers might be looking at increased prices for these popular Buick models.

Upswing in Sales

Despite the tariff concerns, Buick’s sales numbers are promising. In the first three months of 2025, Buick sold over 61,822 vehicles in the U.S., a notable jump from 44,385 in the same timeframe last year. Key contributors to this surge include a 36.6% increase for the Enclave, a 52.7% leap for the Encore GX, and a 53.8% rise for the Envista. This puts Buick on an upswing, raising its U.S. market share to 1.6% from modest figures like 0.8% back in 2022.
