But with tastes and technology evolving, BMW believes it can deliver top-notch driving dynamics in both formats.

The All-New M3

The next-generation M3 is expected to crank the ICE version up to over 500 horsepower, thanks to a refined version of its inline-six engine. Meanwhile, the electric counterpart, possibly marketed as the iM3, is rumored to leverage a multi-motor setup capable of astronomical power levels, although it won’t hit the theoretical peak of 1,341 horsepower. Essentially, the M3 will continue to dominate tracks, now with different types of under-the-hood power plants.

Driving Dynamics

With the M3, traditionalists will still savor the joy of a roaring gas engine, sharp handling, and superior balance. Those opting for the electric iM3 might miss the soundtrack of the ICE but will be thrilled by brisk acceleration, instant torque, and a futuristic drive experience synonymous with EVs. This strategy enables BMW to maintain its soul of craftsmanship while embracing the inexorable march toward electrification.
