New Micra

The small hatchback scene just got a jolt with Nissan’s newest addition: the fully electric Micra. This little powerhouse is part of the sixth generation and shares its mechanics with the Renault 5 E-Tech hatchback. Even though they share quite a bit under the hood, the Micra stands out with its own European-tuned exterior flair. Picture this: a car that’s electric, feisty, and carries a certain charm that’s both bold and playful.
Design & Features
The new Micra was crafted by the creative minds over at Nissan Design Europe, based in London. It sports a distinctive look with circular headlights that greet you with a “wink” as you approach or leave the car—sounds quirky, right? The use of glossy black accents brings a touch of SUV toughness, while those 18-inch wheels ensure it’s planted on any road. There are also fabulous color options, with 14 combinations thanks to chic two-tone roofs.
Interior
Inside, it borrows quite a bit from its Renault sibling, featuring dual 10.1-inch screens dominating the dashboard. With upholstery choices unique to Nissan, plus fun details like a Mount Fuji motif, it’s a cabin that feels both familiar and fresh. Storage isn’t too shabby either, offering about 11.5 cubic feet of trunk space, enough for everyday needs.
Performance
The Micra’s got guts under those stylish panels. Buyers can pick between two versions: the standard model with 121 horsepower and a 40 kWh battery yielding a 191 mile range, or a more robust option with 148 horsepower boasting a 52 kWh battery, pushing its range to an impressive 254 miles. Taking it on a road trip? The higher tier version allows quick charging, getting from 15% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.
Driving Experience
On the road, Nissan claims the Micra handles like a dream with its low center of gravity and trim weight ranging from about 3,087 to 3,360 pounds. It’s been crafted for spirited driving, featuring agile steering and multi-link rear suspension. This setup promises stability and comfort, much alike the claims first made by its cousin, the Renault 5.
Market Arrival
The fully electric Micra is set to hit European dealerships in late 2025. Expect it to roll into town with a price slightly above the $26,370 mark—the starting figure for the Renault counterpart—given its more upscale positioning. It’s not just a commuter; it’s a statement of eco-friendly intent, just waiting to make its mark as Nissan broadens their EV lineup, including a new Juke and Leaf crossover.
