Spy Shots and Specs

Ferrari is finetuning the hotter 296 VS that’s got car enthusiasts on their toes as it’s expected to debut soon, possibly on April 29. Recently, ardent spies caught a glimpse of the car testing out on the streets of Maranello, Italy, sporting less camouflage than before, but still keeping many secrets under wraps.
Design Tweaks

The prototype channels a bit of American muscle with a slight resemblance to a Dodge Viper in the way it is presented, mostly due to the faux horizontal slats on the bumper. Look deeper, and underneath the camouflage, there’s a splitter born for speed. The rear gets a mysterious treatment with hefty cladding that piques curiosity. It’s all to build suspense, really.
Performance Hike
Inside, the powerhouse is expected to offer an upgraded version of the 296 GTB’s powertrain. So, under the hood, there’s likely a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 paired with an electric motor offering that juicy Ferrari performance. The current GTB already kicks out 819 horsepower and hits 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. The speed tops out over 205 mph. Don’t forget, this hybrid can even cruise for 16 miles on electric power alone.
Aggression with Elegance
The production version of the 296 VS might boast an even more commanding spoiler based on early images. There are whispers of a more assertive diffuser as well, which could refine both aerodynamics and aesthetics decisively.
Driving Experience
Expect the 296 VS to carry more than 850 horsepower, which should elevate its driving dynamics beyond the current benchmark set by the 296 GTB. The ride is likely to be sharper, more engaging for those twisty roads, and handle like a dream with the light touch and intricacy that Ferrari is known for. Compared to other Ferraris, or say, something like a McLaren or a Lamborghini, this model promises the balance of graceful handling and raw force.
With teasers like these and words on the grapevine, the 296 VS aims to hug curves with precision and roar down straights with unapologetic power. Whether it’s the feel of the drive or the unabashed aesthetics that catch the eye, there’s little doubt Ferrari’s got something special in store.
