New Buick Electra E5

The Future of Buick: A Look at the Facelifted Electra E5

Electra E5 Details

Buick has taken a bold leap into the future with its recently unveiled facelifted Electra E5 crossover in China. The highlight reel shows a stunning new design and a treasure trove of updates that reportedly include 47 user-driven improvements. The crossover now boasts a sleek shark nose front and an overall more dynamic appearance, thanks in part to a sportier bumper and hidden door handles. With options for 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof on the higher-end models, this isn’t just a facelift—it’s an overhaul.

Interior Comfort

Inside, the Electra E5 brings comfort and technology together in a harmonious fashion. About 64% of the contact surfaces are covered in soft-touch materials, and rear seats recline for a more relaxed posture. The tech amenities are impressive, with Apple CarPlay supported on a 30-inch curved display. The new AI voice assistant, developed with input from AI models like DeepSeek and Doubao, can execute up to ten sequential voice commands in milliseconds. For those who prefer a quieter atmosphere, premium insulation and double-layer acoustic glass result in unbelievably low interior noise levels of 22 dB.

The base model doesn’t shy away from quality, featuring a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an eight-speaker audio system. For the real audiophiles, the higher-end comes with a 14-speaker Bose premium audio system, plus heated leather seats.

Power Options

The real magic in the Electra E5 lies under its hood—or more accurately, under its floor. The entry-level model is armed with a 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that keeps it going for up to 320 miles on a single charge. The electric motor cranks out 241 horsepower, getting from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds.

The middle tier version packs a bit more punch with a 68.4 kWh battery, extending the range to 339 miles. Surprisingly, it’s slightly quicker off the line, reaching 62 mph in 7.5 seconds. The top-tier model focuses more on endurance, boasting a 76.8 kWh battery capable of 385 miles, even though it’s a tad less quick, doing 0-62 mph in 7.8 seconds.

All motors are oil-cooled, offering what Buick claims to be “industry-leading” high-speed efficiency. The battery tech, co-developed with CATL, boasts a 30% increase in charging speed, so a mere 20-minute charge can juice it up with an impressive 217 miles of range.

Price and Availability

Now for the financials. It starts at a reasonable $20,852 for the base model and goes up to $23,635 for the premium version. But before rushing to place an order, remember this beauty is currently only available in China, and it comes in limited colors—black, white, or gray.

While it’s a pity that this enhanced version of the Electra E5 isn’t available stateside, it surely sets the stage for Buick’s future electric lineup and keeps the U.S. market looking forward to what’s to come.
