Android Auto Arrives

Finally in the Air

The wait is over for Android enthusiasts hoping to enhance their Lucid Air driving experience. As of June 16, 2025, Lucid Motors has answered prayers with the inclusion of Android Auto through an over-the-air update to Lucid OS 2.7.0. This feature, officially named the “Android Auto Smart Driving Companion Application,” is now available across all Lucid Air models. Those with Android 11 or higher can enjoy this perk wirelessly, while owners of phones with Android 9 or 10 can connect via a USB cable.

Before the Update

Prior to this update, Lucid Air drivers had limited options for integrating their Android devices. They could connect Spotify directly or rely on Bluetooth audio, although this method proved less than ideal for hands-free calling or displaying album art. The update rectifies these issues, making driving and managing media far more seamless. Dr. Jean-Philippe Gauthier, Lucid’s Head of Software Engineering, noted the importance of this update for enhancing the overall user experience.

About the Air

The Lucid Air is no stranger to innovation, boasting a range of models to suit different needs and budgets. Starting with the Pure, which comes in at $69,900 and features 430 horsepower with a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. It prides itself on an impressive range of 420 miles and can recharge 200 miles in just 17 minutes. On the other end of the spectrum, the Sapphire dazzles with a jaw-dropping 1,234 horsepower, a 0-60 mph sprint in only 1.89 seconds, and a slightly higher range of 427 miles, offering a 15-minute recharge to 200 miles. The Grand Touring model, positioned at $110,900, delivers a generous 819 horsepower, a 0-60 mph time of 3 seconds, and the longest range at 512 miles, with a rapid 12-minute recharge.

Driving Impressions

Behind the wheel, the Lucid Air offers a driving experience that live up to its cutting-edge specs. The Pure feels nimble and satisfying for everyday driving, with a smooth acceleration that doesn’t scream under duress. The Sapphire, however, is a beast in disguise—a symphony of engineering that zooms ahead with effortless thrust. The Grand Touring offers a balanced approach, perfect for long journeys where power and efficiency are paramount. The addition of Android Auto now makes it easier than ever to access navigation and music, seamlessly kicking the communicative cockpit experience up a notch.

Looking Ahead

With Android Auto finally available in the Lucid Air, this elevates the sedan into a realm of both luxury and technical sophistication. It broadens the gap between Lucid and its rivals, showing an earnest commitment to user convenience. Plus, future availability for the upcoming Lucid Gravity SUV only sweetens the deal, offering prospective owners even more reason to look forward to hitting the open road.
