New Look

The Land Rover Discovery Sport has seen some upgrades for the 2026 model year, but nothing that changes the core of this vehicle that’s been with us since 2014. Among these changes is a fresh Landmark Edition, a nod to the Discovery’s legacy. While it comes with some styling updates and features, it’s missing the one big change everyone hoped for—a powertrain overhaul. Let’s dive into what’s new and what leaves more to be desired in this long-standing SUV.
Landmark Edition

The Landmark Edition is crafted to celebrate the Discovery brand’s rich history. Adorned with a mountain range logo from the original 1989 Discovery, this iteration sports aluminum treadplates and puddle lights showcasing this emblem. The exterior features a standard Narvik Gloss Black contrast roof, though there’s an option for a body-color roof. Inside, a panoramic roof, surround-view camera system, and dual-zone climate control add to the premium feel. The Landmark Edition is now the sole trim for 2026, effectively replacing the prior S and Dynamic S models.
Accessory Packs

New accessory packs are now available alongside classics like the Biking Adventures and For Dogs packs. The Beach Days pack offers sunshades and a load area organizer for beach outings. The Road Trip pack provides Click & Go media holders, cross bars, and a roof box, making it ideal for long drives. Meanwhile, the Snow Days pack includes a Ski and Snowboard Carrier and cross bars to carry skiing gear, alongside durable rubber floor mats.
Engine’s Lows

The Discovery Sport retains its 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with 246 horsepower. With a 0-60 mph time of 7.3 seconds, it lags behind competitors like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. Although handling doesn’t excite, the vehicle has its strengths in off-road capabilities including a 4,409-pound tow rating and the capacity to wade 23.62 inches of water, standing out in its segment for some rugged duties.
Pricing
The Landmark trim’s price starts at $49,900, excluding a $1,275 destination charge. There’s a $1,500 option for a third-row seat, but space remains tight back there. Overall, the features and refinement are solid, but the platform is showing its age compared to rapidly evolving competitors. This may indicate Land Rover is preparing to end this generation of Discovery Sport. The 2026 model can now be configured by those intrigued by what this classic SUV still offers.
