Chevy’s Bold Move

Chevrolet has become known for its diverse line-up of electric vehicles. With the Blazer EV, they ventured into unique territory by offering front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive within the same model. However, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version has quietly been phased out. This strategic decision was revealed by a glance at GM’s fleet ordering documentation and was echoed by Chevrolet spokespersons. It seems the RWD Blazer wasn’t hitting the mark for buyers, and simplifying the lineup made fiscal and practical sense as they head into the 2026 model year. So, the Blazer EV soldiers on with front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants, including a sporty AWD SS trim.
The RWD Legacy

The short-lived RWD Blazer EV only had a one-year run, offered with the RS trim. Despite the potential for a performance punch, it appears that the RS buyers veered towards the FWD and AWD alternatives. The RWD variant delivered 365 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque, which outperformed the 300 horsepower of the regular AWD version on paper, though the latter boasted 355 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the FWD variant was more about practicality, offering 220 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. Enthusiasts wanting the best performance pick would typically lean toward the AWD SS trim boasting an impressive 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

2026 Blazer Tweaks
For 2026, the subtle tweaks showcase Chevrolet’s attention to detail. A new Polar White Tricoat steps in for the outgoing Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, while a Tech Bronze package introduces bold 22-inch bronze wheels and black exterior accents. And for those who love a clean look, there’s now the option to eschew the two-tone roof. While exact pricing for the 2026 models has yet to surface, the 2025 lineup starts at around $44,600 before destination charges.
