Genesis’ New Hypercar Steals the Spotlight

Genesis just pulled the covers off its latest masterpiece, the GMR-001 Hypercar, which is revving up to take a crack at the prestigious 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship, including the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. This beast showed up at Genesis House in New York, boasting a flashy orange look as a nod to its new Magma Racing venture. Designed by Luc Donckerwolke and built with ORECA Motorsport, this hybrid powerhouse is keeping its secrets for now, so we await more specs to roll in.
Orange Passion

The GMR-001, decked out in vibrant orange livery, is more than just a bold color choice; it screams the lively Korean energy that Genesis aims to represent. The front flaunts the orange hue while the back simmers into a rich red. It’s a striking look that won’t go unnoticed on the track.
Lighting Up the Track
Genesis sticks to its two-line lighting trademark, wrapping around its hypercar’s body, offering both style and functionality for night racing. This design language extends to the racing team’s gear, featuring geometric patterns and a bright, appealing look. The team has confirmed that they will compete in European endurance races, leveraging the expertise of racing legends like André Lotterer and Luis “Pipo” Derani, with technical assistance from the iconic Jacky Ickx.
Expanding Horizons
The entry into such a renowned racing series is a strategic move for Genesis, aiming to plant its flag in Europe. This transition is pivotal, given that Genesis only recently tapped into the European market back in 2020, while it made its debut in the U.S. just a few years earlier in 2016. Looking further ahead, the team is setting its sights on the 2027 International Motor Sports Association SportsCar Championship, bringing the competition closer to home.
Pushing the Limits
Though the exact specs of the GMR-001 Hypercar remain a closely guarded secret, it’s bound to meet the Le Mans Daytona Hybrid standards, capping at around 670 horsepower. That’s pretty exciting, considering the half-scale version was only revealed at the Seoul Mobility Show recently. The full-scale debut signals Genesis’s serious intent to chart new paths in the racing world. For those lucky enough to attend, the GMR-001 will be on a display run at the New York International Auto Show this April.
