Even with a whole list of challenges, Nissan is busy cooking up some new additions to their lineup, both for the U.S. and the rest of the world. Among those new projects are the next-generation Sentra and Altima. Recently, patent drawings have been circulating, spurring some conversations about what’s next for these models. Well, here’s the kicker: those images are not what they seem.

EVO Concept

The car in those patent sketches isn’t for North America at all. It’s actually the Nissan EVO Concept, a hybrid sedan that’s been crafted with the Chinese market in mind. This concept shared the spotlight with some other smart-energy vehicles at the Beijing Auto Show back in April 2024. With its sleek design and forward-thinking hybrid tech, the EVO is continuing on the path marked by the N7 all-electric sedan.

A quick comparison between the patent sketches and the EVO shows a clear match-up. The body lines are identical, and the EVO’s distinct styling cues, like its thin LED taillights and sharp headlight accents, are all there in the sketches. Sure, some might say the lights look a smidge bigger, but that’s just how these patent images work. They’re meant to sketch out the idea, not win beauty contests.

Future Sentra and Altima

As far as the real Sentra and Altima go, Nissan gave a sneak peek of their development earlier this year. During one of their presentations, they showed some moody teaser images of the new models. While these renders kept details under wraps, sparking curiosity seemed to be the main goal.

So yes, new Sentra and Altima sedans are definitely in the works and could hit the streets by 2027. But keep in mind, these are yet to be shown in clear images or detailed specs. Still, look out for these revamped models as they are sure to bring something fresh to the table.

While discussing Nissan’s evolving lineup, one thing to keep in mind is how these sedans drive. Historically, both models tailored to American roads pretty well, balancing performance and convenience. The Altima offers a calm and collected ride, usually equipped with a decent powertrain. On the other hand, the Sentra brings practicality and efficiency, often ideal for city commuting. Expect these traits to continue as Nissan revamps these classics for future generations.
