Canton Challenge

Nissan’s facility in Canton, Mississippi, is in the spotlight as the company offers buyouts to its workers there. Not just in Mississippi, but across various departments including finance and IT, separation packages are on the table for salaried employees. The company targets a 20% reduction in average labor costs, a 70% reduction in parts complexity, and a reduction of its vehicle platforms from 13 to 7 by 2035. Amidst these financial strategies, Nissan has listed its Yokohama headquarters for sale, which is valued at approximately $698 million. This strategic asset sale is part of a broader plan to boost liquidity and financial health by March 2026.
