Kia EV9 Boosts Range

Kia EV9: A Great Deal

Now here’s the deal with the upcoming 2026 Kia EV9, a three-row, all-electric SUV that’s generating a lot of buzz. This model positions itself in a segment that’s gaining traction, populated by options like the Rivian R1S and Volvo EX90. This year’s version maintains its price point while packing in more features, making it an attractive option for those considering an electric SUV.

Updated Range

The headline grabber this year is the range boost across multiple trims of the EV9. For instance, the GT-Line, the current top-tier model, gets a range extension of 10 miles, now offering up to 280 miles. The Land and Wind trims also enjoy a slight bump, with their range climbing to 283 miles. The Light LR version sneaks in a one-mile increase, reaching 305 miles. However, the base EV9 Light SR holds steady at 230 miles. Amidst all these tweaks, the eagerly awaited EV9 GT remains a bit of a mystery with no specific range or production details yet.

A notable mention is the new Nightfall Edition package available on the Land AWD trim. It introduces exclusive 20-inch gloss black wheels, black badging, and additional glossy black design elements, but we’re yet to see an official price for this add-on.

Competitive Pricing

Interestingly, even with improved features and range, the 2026 Kia EV9 hasn’t inflated its price tag. In fact, the EV9 Line and EV9 Land trims have seen their prices drop by about $1,000 from the previous year. The Kia EV9 Light LR and the premium GT-Line trims enjoy even greater price cuts at $2,000, bringing the starting prices to $59,395 and $73,395, respectively, inclusive of a $1,495 delivery fee. The base EV9 Light and Wind trims remain steady, further establishing the EV9 as a budget-friendly choice in its class.

Driving Experience

Driving the 2026 Kia EV9 feels groundbreaking, particularly in its price range. Although not radically different from competitors like Volvo’s EX90 or Rivian R1S in driving dynamics, its spacious interior and feature-packed cabin set it apart. The EV9 delivers a solid driving performance without breaking the bank—around $20,000 less than some closest rivals. Within this price bracket, it really stands out, offering value and utility, especially with the third row that actually accommodates adults comfortably, unlike some of the “extra seats” seen in other brands like the Mercedes EQB or Tesla Model Y.
