Reimagining the 911 Turbo

In the niche world of high-performance automotive customization, it’s not every day a project captures the imagination like RML Group’s latest endeavor. Pulling inspiration from the Porsche 911 Turbo S, the British engineering company is crafting a limited-run supercar: the RML P39. Expected to turn heads and hearts alike, only 39 of these will ever see the daylight of a showroom.
A Body Built for Speed
The RML P39’s appeal starts with its ultra-lightweight carbon fiber build. It’s not just aesthetics—this design seriously cuts down the car’s heft, enhancing its agility and performance. With an aggressive stance, the P39 features a body that swells 6.7 inches longer and 3.5 inches wider than a standard 911 Turbo S. That’s coupled with a track widened to accommodate bold aerodynamic elements like an enormous rear wing, a diffuser, and a front splitter. These modifications contribute to a whopping 2,035 pounds of downforce, keeping the car glued to the pavement at high speeds.
Under the Hood
The excitement doesn’t end there. Beneath the composite body beats the heart of a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine. Cranking out up to 920 horsepower and 705 lb-ft of torque, this engine is a force of nature. It scales back in power only in particular drive modes—down to 600 hp in Wet mode, and 750 hp in Normal mode. The aim is not just speed, but a balanced equation of power and control, edging ever closer to breaking the Nurburgring Nordschleife’s 6:45 lap mark.
Uncompromised Road Feel
The driving experience, as one would guess, is leagues apart from the average supercar. Equipping the P39 with bespoke suspension components including top mounts, springs, and dampers, RML leaves no stone unturned in ride perfection. Add to that a four-corner hydraulic lift system and a recalibrated rear-wheel steering system, and handling is razor-sharp. This is not just mechanical muscle but engineering poetry in motion.
The Price of Exclusivity
The RML P39 doesn’t come cheap. Starting at roughly $670,500—which doesn’t include the cost of the donor Porsche 911 Turbo S—this is a status symbol as much as it is a feat of engineering. Deliveries are slated to kick off later this year, introducing these exclusive machines to a select few who will appreciate not just the performance but the artistry of this one-of-a-kind project.
In sum, the RML P39 takes the familiar 911 framework and launches it into a different cosmos of performance and design. Every impulsive glance at this car echoes a reminder that in automotive engineering, boundaries are meant to be pushed—and in the case of the P39, shattered entirely.
